I've always had a big problem with people trying to convert me to another religion. Especially Christianity actually because I guess its the one I have experienced the most and also the most persistent. and frankly, I don't really appreciate being damned for being a non believer and no I do not think I need to be saved.
Its funny cos all my close friends are christians, well, and one catholic and one undecided. haha. I suppose they respect my choice just like I respect theirs. And thats fine with me. But its when people start bringing religion into everything they do, into something thats suppose to be secular and when they try to impose their views on everyone around them, thats when I have a problem.
Maybe its because of my bad experiences.
When I was in P6, this relief science teacher talked about the chicken and egg story. Which one came first? He was using it to explain plants and seeds. Well, one would expect that its kind of hard to decide which one came first right. well, wrong. This dude said the dhicken came first. Cos God made it.
Now, don't get me wrong. I think its ok if you believe it, but to teach it in a SCIENCE class???????? If this is not a subversion of young innocent minds I don't know what it is. Me being me of course, I just had to argue with him. Yes, I spent the rest of the period arguing with him. The relief teacher and a 12 year old.
He even started saying "Yah, so you are saying that the monkeys in the Zoo are going to become people?" This was in response to my counter point about evolution. Well, I can't remember the details..but.....yah...judge what you want from this.

just my POV... from a religous viewpoint, religion is either everything or nothing. it is either a philosophy that explains everything or just a bunch of stories. so if you believe in a religion, it has to permeate everything you say and think and do.
