I'm not too sure how this works in other schools. Do you guys have 8am classes too?
Well, this semester I have 8am classes EVERY DAY. And so far I have only missed 2 of them..in fact I have missed more of my 2pm class than any of my 8ams.
Waking up at 735am (the 5 mins is because I figured 5 mins after 730 wouldnt hurt) and leaving the house by 755am so that I'll reach class before 810am (Berkeley time, all classes start 10 mins late and consequently I think I'll always be 10 mins late to ALL things from now on..what a bad habit this inculcates). Reach class. Groggy. I smell coffee, see people eating breakfast...and then the the Prof pops in. We start.
Its nice though...walking down Telegraph Ave in the wee hours (okok not that early considering I use to wake at 6am but I'm getting old ..) of the morning. Its peaceful. There are people about but the homeless don't ask you for money, the cars are few so I can jay walk. There are people. Just enough to make me feel like I am not alone and not too many such that I have to weave my way in and out of human traffic.
I actually enjoy the pummelling up the slope to my 8am class. I like Berkeley this way, its actually serene. Well, I like Berkeley the other way too...when you have the dude on the chair shouting "HAppy Happy" and goes on to slam Bush. Or the bunch of homeless near my apt who ask you for money for pot..or pot for money ( I dunno how that works). OR the tons of student groups on Sproul who sit there day in day out..or even the number of people you see in school that you don't know. And you wonder how come you can walk around and not know anyone. The school is too darn big.
8ams. I think I am getting too old for this.

Im living in Europe in Czech Republic and its quite normal to have 8am classes for all of us. Sometimes, when the timetables are REALLY f*cked up, my school starts at 7am.

P/S:Ive been to California one year ago and it was just AMAZING. You are really supposed to be happy. Even if u have 8am classes. :)
I have 8am classes too.... and the winter season makes the whole thing even worse....

dear...i wake up at 7a just so i can haul ass up those berkeley hills...lol...jk i hate 8am's too...but it's really nice and quiet in the morning w/out the craziness...btw you don't mind that i comment here right? it's always nice to read ppl's journals...also i love those pics of korean dudes u got there...*sigh*
ahem....I just pay more to live nearer to school (thats how i get to school in a short time) but yeah...weather is better here.

heyhey! haha i know how that feels... i had 8am every morning my freshman 1st sem. to top it off, it was a class where attendance was compulsory (Read: language class). my gosh, i almost DIED everyday. :P
