Evaluating people-Initiate Mid Semester Review

Today was mid sem review for the initiation process of Phi Sigma Pi.We had to go through a list of initiates/ pple and talk about their progress so far. Everything went well as we liked all the initiates. No drama and stuff. So thankfully the process was a quick one.

But then as I sat there, "evaluating" all these people, talking about them and discussing what they could possibly be like from out limited interactions with them, I wondered how correct were we to do such things? I mean I know it has to be done. But who are we to decide if someone is nice. arrogant, driven etc. And to judge who is a possible leader?

There will always be misconceptions for sure (and frankly i don't like the word leader). How do we discuss people without forming preconceived notions of them them might or might not be correct? What allows us to do so?
