Why oh why is it that ever since the NKF issue started, cab drivers ALWAYS talk to me about it?
I'm someone whos usually very quiet in the cab. And I think the taxi drivers feel it too cos they are usually very quiet too.
Well, up to now at least.
Now, every time I take a taxi, the guy starts talking about the NKF issue. Granted its a case of "rich n powerful gone wrong/ evil" and where the poorer who donate see their money being swallowed up in ways never though possible. And yes it is a hot topic and yes its really important as it could shape the future landscape of our social services.
But.
I tend to find that I am some sort of a complain bureau where the Taxi drivers ALL complain about the same stuff. Oh, that stupid guy..spend all our money. You know he is earning $66000 a month, got so many cars, shit on gold. You get the idea.
I mean, hey I do think the cars, air tickets, 12 month bonus and all are wrong. Considering that this "company" gets its money through the good will of people. But I will be skeptical to believe EVERYTHING SPH writes, after all, they are the other party in the court case. and firstly I would ask, how much is the top guy in YMCA, Ren Ci, NCSS etc. getting paid? how many other positions does the top person hold? Shouldn't it be a comparative thing?
And also, if you think about it, NKF is run like a company. So I guess the way it makes money is through donations. The way it loses is through the dialysis services. How do you judge an organization that is run like a profit org? Its complicated and tedious. Its an organization that is suppose to serve the people. Pretty much like the govt, no? But do you see the govt getting slammed for high wages?
How does one differentiate it?
I mean, yes of course people know that their money that goes to the govt is being spent on govt salary n cars (but thats necessary) and of course people give their "donations" aka tax, somewhat unwillingly.
I definitely do not condone Durai's behaviour. Yet I do not go lambasting at everyone around me and complaining..why? Cos frankly, I don't know all the facts. I don't know the benchmarks.
Call me ignorant.
