Miss Singapore Universe 2005 aka MSU

Yes MSU. How Singaporean is that!!!! TO have to abbreviate EVERYTHING. Anyway, I just have to say this about MSU. Every year, and I MEAN every year, I look at all the contestants and I wonder: Where did all the hot and intelligent chicks go!?!? I know quite a few and yet none of them are up there. Its interesting how MSU seems to be for all the wannabes or "think they are chio" people. The really chio ones are simply not on the show. Of course there are exceptions, but RARELY. Why am I complaining? Do I think that I am very hot? NO! Its just that when you become MSU contestant, of course people are going to have expectations. When you join a pageant you gotta expect the bitching and the criticism and the comparisons.
When I watch MU (Miss Universe) I always cringe when the Singaporean contestant comes up. I am PROUD of my country but the MSU representative is another thing all together. The costume tends to be hideous and the girl up there sometimes sounds like she can't speak english. Arghz. Oh just like Fann Wong's little role in the JAckie Chan movie. I swear I was cringing whenever she opened her mouth. Its like telling the whole world "Hey! Singaporeans can't speak english very well!" Very embarrassing.
Anyway, back to MSU 2005. So I was looking at the candidates. Ok, got about 3 attractive ones. But when you click the "get to know them" button, you get all the cliche answers. Ok, so maybe those are the real answers, but really this is MSU 2005, you would expect intelligent, beautiful women striving to represent our country right?
Wrong. Oh so wrong. It makes me wonder what MSU has become. I asked a few of my friends and they said that MSU is like for all the CMIs (cannot make it) or the TTMK (think they can make it). Of course, as I said before there are always the few gems but somehow they never make it to the final cut. Arrgghz. When will be the day that MSU is something ALL singaporeans can be proud of and girls are striving to join?
Singaporean girls, some are hot. But they are all just hiding somewhere.

Rebecca Lim: The only apparently "ok" contestant
